My cat is hesitant jump. Doesn’t seem to be in pain. looks, thinks about it and finally jumps. He is 4yrs old

The cat is a Devon Rex, neutered and is in good health. He hesitates to jump even the shortest amount. He would rather walk onto the footstool, up to the coach, then on the arm of the sofa and then to the counter. Does anyone have any idea whay a healthy cat would not like to jump? Thanks for any help

I have a cat just like this. He is just hesitant because he is nervous. There is no reason to worry so relax, just get him some pet-steps or something.
